Cookie Notice
This page explains the small amount of data CliffPop stores in your browser, and the one third-party analytics service we use (Google Analytics) — which is consent-gated and runs in a cookieless mode until you accept. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site retargeting. For the full picture of how we handle personal data, see our Privacy Policy.
What we store
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
cliffpop_token | localStorage | Keeps you signed in across page loads. | Until logout or 4 hours of inactivity |
cliffpop_cookie_consent | localStorage | Remembers your choice on the cookie banner so we don’t ask again. | 12 months |
Both items are strictly necessary to operate the Service or to honour a choice you made, and are exempt from the consent requirement under the EU ePrivacy Directive (Article 5(3)). We disclose them here for transparency.
Google Analytics (optional, consent-gated)
We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-PXD9EERBS9) to understand which pages people visit
and which features get used. It loads on every page, but Google’s “Consent Mode v2” is set to denied by default, which means:
- Until you click Accept all on the cookie banner,
Google Analytics runs in a cookieless mode.
No
_gacookies are set, no client identifier is stored in your browser, and pings cannot be linked into a session across pages. - If you click Accept all, Google Analytics
switches to its normal mode and sets the standard
_gaand_ga_*cookies (typically a 2-year lifetime) to recognise your browser across page-views within a session. - If you click Reject non-essential, or change your mind later, analytics stays in (or returns to) cookieless mode and any previously-set Google Analytics cookies stop receiving fresh data.
- IP addresses are anonymised before being sent to Google
(
anonymize_ip). We do not use Google Signals, ad personalisation, or any advertising-storage features.
Google Analytics is a processor for this purpose; Google’s own handling of the data is governed by Google’s privacy and cookie policies.
What we don’t use
- No advertising or retargeting cookies.
- No Meta Pixel, TikTok Pixel, or other ad-network beacons.
- No cross-site trackers.
- No Google Signals or ad personalisation inside Google Analytics.
You can change your cookie choice at any time by clearing cliffpop_cookie_consent from your browser’s
site data (see “Managing your choice” below), which
will show the banner again.
“Sign in with Google”
If you choose to sign in or sign up with Google, the Google
sign-in flow runs in your browser and Google may set its own
session cookies on its domains (such as accounts.google.com).
Those are Google’s cookies, not ours, and they’re
governed by Google’s own privacy and cookie policies. We
only receive a verified, opaque identifier (the Google
“sub” claim) and your email and name, which we use
solely to create and operate your CliffPop account.
Managing your choice
You can clear CliffPop’s stored data at any time from your browser’s privacy settings (look for “Clear site data” or “Cookies and other site data”). Doing so will sign you out and cause the cookie banner to be shown again on your next visit.
