Content Guidelines

CliffPop is a curated home for vertical drama. Every series on the platform is reviewed before it goes live and every episode is checked against the standards on this page. This is what that means for you, the person watching.

What you can expect to see

Fiction, in all its colours. Romance, thriller, fantasy, comedy, period drama, science fiction, horror, slice-of-life. If it’s a story being told well, you’ll find it here.

Adult themes, handled with intention. Sensual, romantic, and mature storytelling sits comfortably alongside everything else on the platform. Heat, chemistry, intimacy and longing are part of the catalogue when they’re part of the story being told. Think of the kind of charged-but-tasteful work you’d see on a mainstream streaming drama, not anything more explicit.

Difficult subject matter. Some of the best fiction walks through hard places — grief, addiction, violence, abuse, trauma. We allow these subjects when they’re part of an honest narrative. We don’t allow them when they’re gratuitous or used to shock for its own sake.

How we curate

Every series is reviewed by our editorial team before it’s published. Every individual episode passes through three checks:

• Technical: resolution, audio levels, encoding integrity. So nothing breaks halfway through.
• Editorial: pacing, structure, the cliffhanger rule. So the format works on a phone in your hand.
• Standards: compliance with the rules below. So the catalogue stays one you can trust.

Free episodes — try before you commit

Every series on CliffPop opens with at least the first episode free, so you can start watching without spending anything. Where a series has a trailer, that’s free too. Many creators choose to leave a wider opening run of episodes free as a taste of the series — how many is up to them, but the platform guarantees you’ll always be able to watch episode 1 (and the trailer, if there is one) without ever using a token.

Token costs for the paid episodes vary by series. Most sit around 30 tokens per episode; some are lower to ease new viewers in, some are higher for premium productions, and the occasional finale or stand-out episode is priced individually by the creator. The price always shows on the episode card before you unlock it, so there are no surprises.

One exception worth knowing: in branched-story series (where an episode ends with a choice between two or more paths), the branches after the choice always cost tokens, regardless of where they fall in the series. The episode that presents the choice follows the normal free-window rules; only the path you pick is paid.

Age

CliffPop is intended for adults. You must be 18 or older to create an account, purchase credits, or watch anything that goes beyond the youngest, most general material. Some series carry additional content advisories at the start of the first episode — please pay attention to them.

What we don’t allow

The following are not permitted on CliffPop. Where we find them, we remove them and we work with the creator to address how it happened — up to and including removing the creator from the platform.

• Sexually explicit pornography. Full-frontal nudity, graphic sexual depiction, or any content whose primary purpose is sexual gratification rather than narrative storytelling.
• Anything involving minors in a sexual or suggestive context. Zero tolerance. Reported to the appropriate authorities, no exceptions.
• Real-world hate, harassment, or incitement. Content that promotes hatred or violence against people based on race, religion, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or nationality.
• Glorification of self-harm or suicide. Sensitive depiction inside a story is allowed; instructional or celebratory content is not.
• Real-world violence presented as instruction. Including weapons construction, attacks on real people or groups, and content designed to encourage real-world harm.
• Defamation of real, identifiable people. Including dramatised content that presents falsehoods about a named real person as if they were fact.
• Material that infringes someone else’s rights. Copyrighted footage, music, scripts, characters, or likeness used without proper clearance.
• Non-fiction content. Documentary, reaction, commentary, or vlog content. CliffPop is for stories, not for the news.
• Anything illegal under Maltese law, EU law, or the law of the country where the work was produced.

Content advisories

Some series will display a brief advisory before episode one flagging mature content (sex, violence, substance use, themes of trauma). These exist so you can make an informed choice before you start a series — not as a stamp of approval or disapproval. If you’d rather not see those advisories across the catalogue, we’re working on filtering options for your profile.

Reporting a problem

If you see something on CliffPop that you believe breaks these guidelines — or that you think we should know about for any other reason — please tell us. We’d rather hear about it from you than not at all.

How we respond

• We acknowledge every report within 48 hours.
• Reports concerning suspected illegal content, content involving minors, or imminent real-world harm are escalated immediately and reviewed within hours, not days.
• Where we agree the content breaks our guidelines, we remove it and we follow up with the creator. Where we don’t agree, we explain our reasoning back to you.
• If we’re ever required by law to act on a report — for example, a valid court order or a regulator’s request — we will, and we’ll document it.

Changes to these guidelines

We may update this page from time to time as the platform grows and as our understanding of new edge cases evolves. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the latest change. Material updates will be flagged in-product before they take effect.
